Michael Spangler

In 1967 my mother, Mabel Florence McKinney Rhein, received a packet of information on her McKinney and Stewart forebears from her nephew Clayton Vogel. It contained some limited information on Michael Spangler, married to Barbara McKinney, who came to Clarion County from Centre County. Over the years I was unable to find any information on Michael's forebears including earlier visits to the Centre County Library & Historical Museum. Following some recent correspondence with a descendant of Michael Spangler, I again wrote to the Centre County Library & Historical Museum. In March 2011, I received some material from them containing, among other items, detailed information on the church records of the Nittany Valley Union Church in the late 1700's and early 1800's that was translated from German to English by Jack Cowher and typed by Fred Houtz in 2003. It contained detailed church records of marriages, baptisms, etc., that were not heretofore available in English. This infomation is now entered in Michael's records and that of his forebear Johann Spangler. My purpose in commenting here is to point out that a genealogy search is ongoing. In this instance from around 1967 to March 2011, some 44 years. (Note to File - JP Rhein)
